Last Friday, my chapter of S.T.D. sponsered a reading of all of Shakespeare's sonnets in honor of his birthday (which was supposedly last Saturday). We read them from the second floor library balcony at school, and it was quite dull because it was difficult to hear, but I found it amusing!! We must come up with more events of this nature!

Also, I have a quick question: does anyone have suggestions for good fundraisers? We're attempting to go to the conference next year, but we aren't sure yet whether the student government is willing to fund our trip. English majors aren't big car washers;)

We had a bake sale. And fed the professors once.

STD also sponsors a 24 hour poetry marathon in the plaza at my uni. The proceeds go to the Public Library, but we sell shirts and whatnot.

English majors ARE food people! Good idea. How does the 24 hour marathon go? That would be a lot of fun, but I go to a tiny school, and I don't think I could ever round up enough people who are remotely interested in poetry for such a thing.
